The Power of Now – Book Review

The Power of Now, by Eckhart Tolle; who’s known to be Ophra’s favorite guru, it was first published in 1997 and didn’t stop selling copies since then.

“I keep Eckhart’s book at my bedside. I think it’s essential spiritual teaching. It’s one of the most valuable books I’ve ever read.”

~ Oprah, from oprah.com

His message of living into the now might sound basic, or even obvious for some, but as you keep reading, you’ll realize how far from it you’re living your life, and you’ll understand why it’s so harmful to you.

I was shocked to see so many bad reviews for this book, but to give them some credit, I do to agree with something; it is not an easy book to read.

You need to focus and be willing to open your mind constantly through all the chapters, and this can get exhausting if you are one of those people who need to finish every book faster than the last one, or one of those who look for magic recipes.

It requires patience, so if you think this could be an issue, try the audiobook. I did, and I’ll also recommend you to meditate with it, you’ll love it. I assure you; the effort and patience are totally worth it, it’s a must book for me.

Now, back to the content, the reason I like the audiobook so much is that it drives you into a conversation where E. Tolle takes you through;

  • spiritual goals and issues
  • belief systems
  • objections you’ll have
  • techniques for mastering your mind
  • and explains; what choices do you have, and force you to question; which one you’ll take?

This book helped me a lot because I allowed it to do so. I’m not gonna tell you this is a magical masterpiece that could change your life because it requires a lot of effort and work from your part, but if you commit and actually do it; magic might come.

Thank you for reading and please let me know me if you liked this book or if you have one you liked better, I’d love to try it!
